This environment concept was for my bachelor’s thesis with the research question: „Immersion in children: Example of Star Stable Online„.
It’s a fictional parallel world to Jorvik, a peaceful magical place – the opposite of Pandoria, you could say. There are elf people and special horses living on this floating island who are very connected to nature. There also is a castle which has once been a living flower, but before it died the elves built their castle out of it and therefore kept it alive for centuries.
In case of imminent danger, the portal to any other parallel world closes and a second portal opens above the castle to summon help or escape if there is no other option left.

The castle doen’t have rooms inside so the life all happens in the courtyards. There are four of them which replace the flower’s leaves. That’s where the elves meet, cook, play – everything you’d normally do inside the castle. Each one belongs to one of the magic circles in Star Stable: Sun circle, Star circle, Moon circle and Lightning circle. The flower connects all of them.
The blooms are hollow and stretchy. The elves can hide inside them to sleep or be alone. In case of emergency situation there is just enough room for an elf and their horse in order to escape through the second portal.
Each courtyard has one big stained glass window on the left and right side. They show the legend of Aideen.
That’s because Aideen is the goddess of Jorvik who, as the legend says, brought the island of Jorvik to life.
When Jorvik was a cold, lifeless rock in the middle of a wild, stormy ocean, a star fell from the sky and a girl on a horse appeared from the crash. She gave life to the island by lighting a candle.
Flos Caeli, I imagine, is supposed to be the place where Aideen came from. When Flos Caeli was in danger at the time, she was sent through the portal inside a bloom to rescue the island’s legacy, in case Flos Caeli had been destroyed.
Later on she might have gotten back to her home before she died and found it almost intact.
Ever since this incident Aideen was revered as a goddess to the people of Jorvik and a hero to her own folks.
